Wedding Make-up Tips

The key to getting a look that you are happy with is to be forward and honest with your make-up artist about your likes and dislikes during the consultation. When you are looking for a make-up artist you need to feel confident that they are open to your individual requirements. You should feel comfortable about speaking up if you aren't happy with particular aspects of your make-up after all, you are the one who will be wearing it. Professional make-up artists have the artistic and technical knowledge to help you achieve a fantastic result, and should also appreciate your need to feel comfortable in your own skin. We all know how good it is when we know our inner glow is reflected on the outside!

Wear a top that is button-up or wrap around so you don't have to take it off over your head. Your face needs to be freshly washed, and if you have dry skin use an oil-free moisturiser. The area you allocate for make-up needs to have good lighting (preferably natural light) and a table or bench. A power point and tap are also required, particularly if you are also having hair styled.

Your bridal touch-up kit should include your powder compact with sponge, lip stick, lip gloss, waterproof mascara, eyeliner, some cotton buds, tissues, blot papers, mini hairspray, hair pins, mints, safety pins and mini sewing kit. It's best for a bridesmaid or your mum to look after it. Remember to pack make-up remover, cotton pads, face wash and moisturiser in your overnight bag.

Avoid trying make-up, skin care products or beauty treatments that you haven't used before within 2-3 months of your wedding. If you have a reaction this should be enough time for it to settle down. Don't try to treat it yourself - see your doctor or an appropriate professional for treatment.

For wedding day timing allocate 45 minutes each for bridesmaids and mothers, and an hour for the bride. Aim to have everyones make-up completed at least half an hour before the photographer arrives so you have time to get dressed.
